CHAIR'S MESSAGE

A Message From Our Chair

Lorraine Chabot-Vecera

Dear fellow BIA Members,

Welcome to the Emery Village Business Improvement Area website. Over the past year, our Board of Management has continued to work diligently to lay the foundation for making the Emery Village BIA a leader in business improvement areas.

We have remained steadfast in our commitment to establishing the groundwork for what will be a multi-billion dollar reinvestment into our BIA. Proof of this is the demolition of the old Canadian Tire at Weston Road and Finch Avenue West, where the heart of our Village will soon be situated. In addendum to this, there is historical relevance to Weston and Finch as it is the location of the first pioneer settlement in Emery.

Together with Terraplan Landscape Architects, our Streetscape Committee has been designing and implementing our plan to beautify and upgrade our area. You will notice the beginnings of implementation in street signs, benches and planters present at major intersections, and gateway signs which are in the construction process. Look for hanging planters, banners, and resurfacing of Weston Road, coming soon. In conjunction, our Arts and Heritage Committee has been moving forward to incorporate historical commemoration in our beautification projects. An example of this is the mural that is currently up at Weston and Finch, which depicts the history of Emery.

Intelligarde Security continues their nightly mobiles to protect our business community, and this has been very positive, due to their presence and visibility in the area.

Our umbrella association, TABIA (Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas), is constantly monitoring developments at City Hall and working to protect the interests of BIA members across the City.

If you have any questions or concerns relating to the Emery Village BIA, please contact our coordinator Sandra Farina at 416-744-7242 or emeryvillagebia@bellnet.ca.

Sincerely,
Lorraine Chabot-Vecera
Chair
